Foul is Fair Blog Tour + Q&A with Author Hannah Capin

Release Date: 2.18.2020

Happy Wednesday! I have a bit of a different post for you this week: I was lucky enough to be selected to take part in the blog tour for Foul is Fair by Hannah Capin. This post includes information about the book, as well as an exclusive interview with the author!

Synopsis

Elle and her friends Mads, Jenny, and Summer rule their glittering LA circle. Untouchable, they have the kind of power other girls only dream of. Every party is theirs and the world is at their feet. Until the night of Elle’s sweet sixteen, when they crash a St. Andrew’s Prep party. The night the golden boys choose Elle as their next target.

They picked the wrong girl.

Sworn to vengeance, Elle transfers to St. Andrew’s. She plots to destroy each boy, one by one. She’ll take their power, their lives, and their control of the prep school’s hierarchy. And she and her coven have the perfect way in: a boy named Mack, whose ambition could turn deadly.

Foul is Fair is a bloody, thrilling revenge fantasy for the girls who have had enough. Golden boys beware: something wicked this way comes.

Q&A with Hannah Capin:

1) Why do you think YA literature is important, and why did you decide to write it?

I’ve always loved reading and writing YA! Being a teenager is an incredibly intense experience: you’re discovering and defining yourself, you’re experiencing so many firsts, and you’re dealing with a lot of pressures. Everything feels—and often is!—so high-stakes in high school, and I love digging into that world when I’m writing. Also, teenagers get talked down to so often by adults, and so much YA can be preachy or watered down—I think teenagers deserve stories that don’t patronize them and don’t tell them what to think. Writing those stories is my goal.

2) What advice do you have for aspiring writers?

Tune out the noise. Don’t worry about what’s happening on “book twitter” or what’s “trendy” in your genre. To become a better writer, WRITE—the stories you care about and the things that are hard to write. Don’t let setbacks daunt you: there will always be setbacks, and the way through them is to keep writing.

3) What do you hope readers take away from Foul is Fair?

That’s up to the reader!

A big thank you to Hannah Capin for taking the time to answer my questions! <3 Once again, Foul is Fair comes out on February 18th (this week!!) 🙂

Thank you so much for reading, and I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day!

<3, g
