Hello! I hope you’re having a wonderful week so far! It’s been a little crazy recently with the coronavirus outbreak, as most of you can relate I’m sure. My university switched over to all online classes, and I’m back at home attending classes from here, which is really nice but also making it a bit harder to be as productive. I’m a bit nervous with all the cases popping up, but trying to keep myself busy with school, talking to friends and family, and reading ***CHAIN OF GOLD*** (my most anticipated read of 2020) which I just picked up a few days ago!!
I have yet another poem for you this week, again one that I’ve just written recently. It’s a bit of a followup to the one I posted last week, actually. It’s about how as hard as it is, it’s important to let go of things and people who aren’t giving you the love and acceptance you need so you can be loving towards yourself and put yourself around people and in situations that make you feel loved and accepted and safe. It doesn’t have to be forever, but just remember to put yourself first and that you deserve to be loved and respected and treated with love and kindness always <3
Safe Place
You used to be my safe place
Somewhere I could let go of the pain,
Feel like I could be the same,
and not like I was being played.
I still reach out,
Thinking about
The happiness that must’ve been
But
I can’t anymore.
Now, I’m sure.
You’re not safe;
You make me feel like I’m going to break,
Like to be loved I need to be fake.
Like I have nothing to say,
Like there will never be a day
That I’ll be good enough
To be loved.
I’m good enough now,
And it’s taken time for me
To really see
That.
You can’t right now,
And I forgive you.
But I also need to let go,
Because there’s a reason I left,
And I need to remember that.
